Open Grant
Fund open source projects through AI agents with x402 micropayments & onchain USDC escrow
What it is
OpenGrant is a crypto native API marketplace and open source funding platform built on multi chain (now only Base Sepolia) EVM networks. Publishers monetize their APIs with per request USDC pricing through the x402 protocol, where payments happen automatically at the HTTP layer using the 402 Payment Required status code. AI agents autonomously discover, pay for, and consume these APIs without human intervention. On the funding side, a trustless onchain escrow lets anyone donate to open source projects directly or fund an entire dependency tree by uploading a single manifest file like package.json. Maintainers verify their GitHub identity and claim accumulated funds through cryptographic signatures. Both revenue streams are unified through GitHub verification, so a project's API income and community donations are visible in one place while keeping wallets separate. The platform runs across EVM chains with Chainlink CRE handling settlement orchestration and AI powered health monitoring.
How it Works
Express 5 API with Drizzle ORM, PostgreSQL, and Redis. Privy wallet based authentication with JWT. x402 payment verification and settlement engine. Solidity smart contracts built with Foundry covering registry, payments, escrow, publisher vaults, token staking, and fee oracles. Deployed across 2(Base Sepolia and World Chain Sepolia)EVM chains. Chainlink CRE for decentralized settlement orchestration and usage aggregation.
