Townhall
Zoning Oracle bringing verified real estate zoning data and RWAs on-chain.
What it is
The Problem: Friction in RWA - Real Estate Finance Today, massive Web3 lending protocols want to fund real estate developers, but they are completely blind to the physical world. To verify a property's zoning status, entitlements, or code violations, lenders must hire human analysts to manually read 500-page municipal PDFs and submit FOIA requests. This analog bottleneck costs up to $2,000 and takes days per parcel, destroying the speed of Web3 capital. Because of this expensive, institutional gatekeeping, mid-market developers are completely locked out of raising funds from the public.
The Solution: Townhall
Townhall eliminates the friction between physical land and Web3 capital by acting as both a Verification Hub and a Tokenization Portal.
- The Zoning Oracle (For Lenders): We replace the human paper-chase with cryptographic truth. Lenders input a Parcel ID, and Townhall instantly provides a verified on-chain zoning status. We turn a multi-day manual process into a 3-second smart contract execution.
- The Tokenization Portal (For Developers): Developers can bypass institutional bottlenecks. By claiming their parcel and passing off-chain verification, our platform automatically mints fractional shares of the land, allowing them to raise capital directly from retail Web3 buyers.
How it Works
Townhall’s architecture bridges unstructured Web2 civic data with high-speed Web3 settlement:
- The Web2 Crawling Agents: We built a Python/FastAPI backend that continuously scrapes and parses unstructured data from local government websites, city council meeting minutes, and zoning maps.
- The Oracle Layer (Chainlink CRE): Standard APIs have a single point of failure, which DeFi lenders will not trust. We deployed our custom data-processing logic to a Chainlink Custom Runtime Environment (CRE). Decentralized nodes independently fetch the municipal data and cryptographically reach consensus before pushing the truth on-chain.
- The Settlement Layer (Hedera): We utilized the Hedera blockchain for its EVM compatibility and speed. We leverage the native Hedera Token Service (HTS) to mint the ERC-1155 fractional property shares. This ensures that the thousands of retail share transactions benefit from Hedera's predictable, micro-cent fees and MEV resistance.
