Frequently asked questions

What is Build on Solana?

"Build on Solana" is a joint startup program by Chainlink Labs and the Solana Foundation that supports Web3 projects building on Solana through structured technical support, ecosystem incentives, and access to the Chainlink standard for onchain finance. At the end of the selection period, a minimum of three teams will be chosen to join the program.

The program enables Chainlink Build projects to make their native tokens claimable by Chainlink ecosystem participants, including eligible LINK Stakers. This gives early-stage and established Build projects new ways to further expand their community and extend their reach.

What will I get with this program?

Technical:

  • Receive direct support from Chainlink solution architects and technical subject matter experts for guidance and best practices on leveraging the Chainlink standard.
  • Gain early access to Chainlink products, including alpha/beta releases, and the opportunity to be a mainnet launch partner.

Showcase:

  • Create an integration-driven marketing plan with a dedicated Chainlink marketing expert.
  • Showcase your project in Chainlink community channels, both online and at events and conferences.

Community and Ecosystem:

  • Grow your ecosystem with help from Chainlink community managers.
  • Attract developers by participating in Chainlink hackathons.
  • Meet and network with other founders and builders in the exclusive Chainlink Build ecosystem.
  • Partner with other projects in the Chainlink Build program and the broader Chainlink ecosystem.
  • Partner with other projects in the greater Solana ecosystem.

Partner Network:

  • Access discounts from the same premium service providers used by Chainlink Labs, including security auditors, infrastructure providers, marketing and public relations experts, development studios, consultancies, and more.
  • Access discounts from premium service providers in the Solana Ecosystem.
  • Guidance on go-to-market strategies, community building, and best practices for integrating Chainlink services into your dApp or protocol.

Is the program right for you?

Chainlink Integration Focus: Projects that use or plan to use the Chainlink platform or products such as CCIP, CRE, Data Feeds, Data Streams, SmartData (AUM, NAV, POR), Automation, Functions, VRF, DECO, and more.

Solana Ecosystem Focus: Projects committed to making Solana their hub and building within the Solana ecosystem.

Early-Stage or Established Projects: Projects both new and more mature. Web3 initiatives looking to expand and refine their offerings within the Chainlink ecosystem.

Long-Term Ecosystem Alignment: Projects that see the value in close, continuous collaboration with the Chainlink and Solana communities.

Innovative Use Cases: Projects eager to push the envelope and unlock opportunities for onchain and offchain growth to solve real-world problems.

When and where will the program be run?

3-month application period: The Build program will be accepting applications for a specific amount of time, 3 months. The time can be increased if needed. Projects can apply through the Build on Solana landing page while applications are open.

Global and Remote-Friendly: Participation is not geographically restricted. Teams worldwide can join and receive remote support.

What types of projects are you looking for?

DeFi: Lending, derivatives, yield aggregators, insurance solutions, and more.

Consumer: SocialFi, gaming, NFT, retail-focused, and more.

Infrastructure: Services and tools enhancing Web3 development and operations, cross-chain interoperability, and improving reliability, availability, security, and confidentiality.

Emerging Use Cases: Any Web3 project that can benefit from the Chainlink standard with a compelling use case and that solves important problems.

Why is Build on Solana the right program for you?

Proven Platform: Chainlink is the standard for decentralized, reliable, and secure oracle services, including data, computation, and cross-chain interoperability.

Collaborative Ecosystem: You’ll gain access to a large, active community of enthusiasts, users, developers, node operators, and ecosystem partners.

Co-Marketing and Visibility: Participating in Build can bring significant exposure. Chainlink regularly highlights participating projects at events and on social channels.

Shared Economic Alignment: By aligning incentives (i.e., contributing a portion of the project’s total token supply), participants gain access to the most engaged and active Chainlink community members.

How long will the program run for?

Program Duration: Participation in Build typically spans one year to allow multiple project lifecycle stages, including testnet and mainnet integration, and community and ecosystem engagement. Many projects stay actively connected even after initial milestones are achieved.

What will the program consist of?

Success and Technical Guidance: Regular check-ins with a dedicated Success Manager and Technical Account Manager.

Co-Marketing and Showcases: Project spotlights on Chainlink community and social channels, speaking opportunities at Chainlink-hosted events, collaborative marketing initiatives, and community-building events.

Resources: Take advantage of discounts and expertise from premium technical and non-technical service providers, including security providers (e.g., auditors, monitoring, & alerting), infrastructure providers (e.g., RPC and cloud), development resources (e.g., technical consulting), and marketing and public relations experts.

Network Building: Access to Chainlink’s extensive Web3 and banking and capital markets communities, fellow Build project founders, and Web3 builders.

What happens after the program?

Continued Ecosystem Support: After reaching key milestones, projects typically remain part of the Chainlink community, receiving ongoing updates, product access, and co-marketing support.

Potential for Further Collaboration: As Chainlink releases new products (e.g., additional data services and advanced cross-chain solutions), participants can integrate them seamlessly and continue to grow.

Alumni Network and Networking: Projects often maintain relationships with fellow participants, forging partnerships long after formal involvement in Build has concluded.
